On April 22, 2023, many of us had the opportunity to hear the inspiring story of Jasmine Grace, who was trafficked, forced into prostitution, escaped, and survived. She said the turning point in her life was finding God. She was redeemed by His love when a non-denominational Christian church group offered her support, and loved her unconditionally.
On March 8, Sister Betsy Goodwin, OSF, and Sister Marilyn McGoldrick, CSJ, educated us about human trafficking and their efforts to end all types of human trafficking.
The committee is seeking monetary donations to finance the purchase of the more expensive items such as the backpacks, jackets, sweatshirts and pants.
We are seeking in kind donations of the following new items: deodorant; hairbrush/comb; shampoo/conditioner (about 10oz. size); band-aids; small packs of tissues for a purse; extra small tote for toiletries; face cloth/hand towel; and a notebook with pen.
We are seeking $20 gift cards from stores such as Target, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Dunkin or the Dollar Store to place in the backpacks.
Starting Sunday, April 30, there will be a container for in kind donations and a basket for monetary donations and gift cards at the back of each of the churches in our parish.
If you have questions about the bags of hope and love or would like to assist in this endeavor, you can reach out to Anne O'Toole or any member of the Soical Justice Committee.
