The family is the base unit of human life; from the moment of our creation, we exist within the structure of a family: father, mother, and child. Within the family relationship we first encounter love, learn what it is to live for another, and understand what it means to call God our Father. The family, then, is essential to the life of faith.
Parents have a responsibility professed at their Confirmation, renewed at their Marriage, and declared at the Baptism of their children to hand on the faith they have received. The Church always assists Christian parents in this work through religious education programs for children, further opportunities in Christian learning for adults, and the regular gathering as a Christian community for worship and family fun.
