One of the largest charitable organizations in the world, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) is an international, nonprofit, Catholic lay organization of about 800,000 men and women who voluntarily join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering in 153 countries on five continents. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul at MQOM is a volunteered-based group whose mission is to grow in friendship and spirituality by serving God's people through acts of charity.
The Society serves people in need regardless of creed, ethnic or social background, health, gender, or political opinions. No work of charity is foreign to the Society.
The Society at MQOM serves the community continually. Local families are struggling to make ends meet especially with utilities and food. We are seeking charitable neighbors who would like to donate financially or through food stuffs.
St. Vincent de Paul Donation Boxes are located near the doors of all three churches in the MQOM parish. Through your generosity we will be able to continue to help the residents fo Plymouth, Carver and surrounding towns with food, heat, electric, and rent relief.
Visit Feed the Hungry to donate, volunteer or get assistance from the Society.
For more information, please email St. Vincent de Paul.
OUR MISSION
As a subcommittee of our Collaborative’s Social Justice Ministry, the diaper pantry’s mission is to provide diapers to families in need within our Collaborative area, by partnering with community organizations that serve those less fortunate.
Research shows that one in three U.S. families struggle to provide enough diapers to keep a baby or toddler clean, dry and healthy. The numbers of families coming to the pantry has increased over the past few months. We see an average of 20 families a week!

We are ever so grateful for your support and generosity in donating diapers, and monetary contributions. We continue to add to the numbers of families we are able to help, as well as provide assistance to local agencies who offer services to our neighbors in need. This could not be possible without your support.

MANY THANKS TO OUR VOLUNTEERS!
We’d like to thank all of our wonderful Diaper Pantry volunteers for their hard work and generous spirits as they ensure that all area babies in need of clean dry diapers are accommodated!
These energetic parishioners not only provide a friendly welcome and prompt service to the Diaper Pantry’s clients, but they sort and track inventory, package donations, and see that the operation runs smoothly. On behalf of the Social Justice Ministry and our entire Collaborative, thanks to all – you are truly living your faith and the Gospel!
Some observations from our Diaper Pantry volunteers:
"For me it is so touching to see these struggling mothers come in with their sweet babies. We get to oohh and ahh over them and you can see the mother’s pride. They are so happy leaving with their much-needed diapers and a little affirmation."
"The community is making a difference in the generous donations to the Diaper Pantry. The clients and volunteers are appreciative and grateful to the parishioners."
“The Diaper Pantry gives its volunteers an opportunity to meet many local moms and other caregivers. They all share a deep love for their babies and a desire to provide for them in every way possible. Most people could likely imagine, having to ask for help from strangers can be a humbling experience. The gratitude these clients express to us in exchange for diapers and baby wipes is heartwarming. Something so simple can mean so much to so many. “
"We help a variety of clients – parents of babies, parents with multiple children, grandparents taking care of grandkids, non-English speaking parents. The one thing they all have in common is their appreciation of the kindness of others in helping them through a difficult time. It is one less thing for them to worry about."
"When the client says, 'You don’t know what a help this is. I don’t have to think about buying diapers.' You are meeting a huge need for the clients."
"For I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you game me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me." - (Matthew 25:35)

"When a poor person dies of hunger it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her. It has happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed." - Mother Teresa
Bereavement Ministry: This ministry is aimed at helping the newly bereaved family to prepare for the Vigil Services and the Funeral Liturgy. We assist the family in choosing appropriate scripture readings and music for the funeral liturgy, and visit the family at the wake and send cards or letters of sympathy from the parish to the bereaved.
If you have recently experienced the loss of someone dear to you, please consider joining our Grief and Loss Support Group. Join us for sharing and healing in a prayerful small group setting. For more information, please look under Happenings/News or contact the parish office.

Gentle Blessings is a small, acappella group of singers who sing at the bedside of folks in need of comfort and a gentle presence through song.
We come to the bedside at the invitation of the family and the nursing facility. We are all parishioners of Mary, Queen of Martyrs Parish (St. Peter, St. Kateri, Our Lady of Lourdes) in Plymouth/Carver.
Our songs are repetitive and soothing with harmony. We prepare music that is both religious and non-religious. Families request which music is preferred. We come into the room for a 10-minute visit and quietly exit after our songs.
Our group is not entertainment. We offer a gentle presence at the bedside of the sick and the dying.
Christmas Concert at Newfield House
How Does It Work?
· We visit in groups of 3 or 4 singers at a pre-arranged time.
· We typically sing for 10 minutes.
· We offer our singing as gentle blessing, not as entertainment.
· You do not need to clean for us or feed us and we ask nothing in return.
· We invite families and caregivers to join us in song or to participate by listening.

We are looking for more singers to join our group!

The group gathers to SING (practice) on the 3rd Saturday of the month in St. Peter lower Church from 10am to 11am.
